Diet Information Regarding Gastric Sleeve
* Only eat small portions
Stop eating as soon as you start to feel full. If you continue eating, your body will react with symptoms such as dumping, pain, nausea and even vomiting.
* Chew well and eat slowly
Take your time to eat and always take a lot of small bites. Do not watch TV or walk around while eating. It can take 20-30 minutes to eat a meal.
* Never eat and drink at the same time
Drink between meals, not during them. This prevents you from overfilling.
* Do not lie down and rest after eating
Reflux of food into the oesophagus is more likely when you are in a horizontal position. The food also remains longer, which causes discomfort.
* Eat 4 to 6 meals per day
If you only eat 2-3 meals a day, there is a great risk that you will not take in enough energy and nutrients. Since you can only eat small amounts at a time, you do not get enough proteins, minerals and vitamins. If you eat several times a day, it is less likely that you will get really hungry and forget the new eating habits.
* Only drink sugar-free beverages and avoid carbonated drinks
Drinks high in calories (e.g. milkshakes) and ice cream can prevent weight loss. Avoid carbonated drinks for the first month. How well the body tolerates them after that is individual.
